The Lowell Chamber Orchestra (LCO) will perform for a second time as part Middlesex Community College’s Spring 2026 “A World of Music” concert series. Conducted by MCC faculty member Orlando Cela, the performance will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26 at MCC’s Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Arts Center, Theatre in Lowell.
The LCO will perform the Overture to “Isacco” by Marianna Martines, “Fantasía para un gentilhombre” for guitar and orchestra by Joaquín Rodrigo, with MCC faculty member and guitarist Raley Beggs as soloist, and “Resiliens” by Helder Alves de Oliveira, the winner of the 2025 LCO Call-for-Scores. The concert will conclude with Symphony No. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
“’Fantasia para un gentilhombre’ is a wonderful walk through six short Spanish Renaissance dances as imagined by composer Joaquín Rodrigo,” Beggs said. “Commissioned by maestro Andres Segovia in 1954, I’m so incredibly grateful to be featured in this concerto with Orlando Cela and the Lowell Chamber Orchestra as we aim to reinvigorate the rich lineage of guitar music today.”
The LCO kicked off the Spring season with a performance at MCC’s Academic Arts Center on Saturday, February 7.
